Turning Astrology Language into Plain English

The 12 Houses of an astrology chart are the areas that you experience life in and how you do life.

Cusps are the doorways to these houses and the 12 signs (Aries through Pisces) show you how do this particular area of your life.

The elements are the raw materials that make up our world. In your chart or map these are the core patterns and states of consciousness represented by what your soul choose to experience this lifetime.

The elements are fire, earth, air and water.

Fire folks are motivated by aspirations and ideals and exude a great deal of warmth, energy and inspiration, they are fiery and passionate. Where do you do this in your own chart? The fire signs are Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.

Earth folks are mainly concerned with the more practical and concrete material aspects of life, how to get things done and they are the builders. Usually quite warm and passionate people when you get to know them. Where are you this way in your chart? The earth signs are Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn.

Air energy lives and breathes to connect, to flow, to continue the flow of information, both social and learning and idea wise. Air lives much in the world of visions, and inspiration and loves to do this for others, where do you do this? The air signs are Gemini, Libra and Aquarius.

Water is interested primarily in how things feel, how they use their intuition, feelings and emotions are the tasks at hand. Water folks are the most influenced by the ebb and flow of life and things happening outside of themselves. Where are you water in your chart? The water signs are Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces.

Modes are the dimensions or motivators of how we change. These seem to anchor and pull our energy together. Cardinal, fixed and mutable are modes of acting, being and hanging on.

You are all of the above in many different areas of your life; there are great opportunities for growth in understanding yourself when you understand your own personal mode of operations for yourself.

Astrological signs are the filter or the costumes which planets must pass through and use to act out their mission in your life. The 12 signs of the zodiac represent the time you were born and your chart shows how they play in your life.

Actors in our lives are the Planets, wearing the signs in a house which shows how you use this energy personally.

The Houses

Astrology is a language of symbols. We use the astrological signs like costumes for the planets which are the actors. The houses are the areas or the stages where the actors in their costumes do their thing.

The 1st through the 6th houses relate to your life, your family and your stuff. The 7th through 12th houses represent you in the world, mixing and mingling with others.

· 1st house is the Ascendant, self, your body and physical appearance and how others see you all other experiences in life filter through this rising sign.

· 2nd house is money and what you think is important, such as your values, desires, possessions and will show an astrologer what your ultimate goal is this lifetime.

· 3rd house is communication, brothers, sisters, lower learning, teaching, practical mind, socialization and communication.

· 4th house is home, security, family, ties to the past, safety, nurturing and roots.

· 5th house is love, creativity, kids, sex, risks, romance, gambling, adventure, fun and self esteem.

· 6th house is work, health, duty, service and skills with hands.

· 7th house is partnerships of all kinds, how you identify with others and balance.

· 8th house is intimacy, joint finances, joint values, sexual energy, shared resources, and death and endings and how you handle these things.

· 9th house is higher religion, philosophy, higher education, ideas, travel, higher mind, spirituality and how we expand our horizons.

· 10th house is career but most of all how you are seen, your title, status, authorities, respect and recognition.

· 11th house is groups, friends, the things you want to leave behind you this lifetime for mankind to use, causes, goals, friends, harmony and fellowship.

· 12th house is the closet in your chart, secrets, karma, the past, dreams, visions, limitations, repressed energy and spiritual connection.

The Signs

Astrology is the language of symbols. We use signs like costumes for the planets which are the actors. The houses are the areas or the stages where the actors in their costumes do their thing.

Putting It All Together

This complex mix of houses, planets and signs could boil down to something as simple as learning about the seasons and what each season brings to you will relate to the signs and elements.

Learning where you put these energies in your personal chart shows the intention of your soul as it choose the perfect and divine moment to incarnate upon this planet for this series of soul experiences. These signs and houses and planets are the tools you chose to use to accomplish your mission.

Cardinal signs begin seasons.

Cardinal Aries (Fire) is the first sign of Spring

Cardinal Libra (Air) is the first sign of Fall

Cardinal Cancer (Water) is the first sign of Summer

Cardinal Capricorn (Earth) is the first sign of Winter

Fixed signs are in the middle of the season. They are the energies which are powerful, hold onto the season and bring it into its richness.

Fixed Spring is Taurus (Earth)

Fixed Fall is Scorpio (Water)

Fixed Summer is Leo (Fire)

Fixed Winter is Aquarius (Air)

Mutable signs are at the end of a season as things are flowing from one season to another and have more adaptability as all things around are changing.

Mutable Spring is Gemini (Air)

Mutable Fall is Sagittarius (Fire)

Mutable Summer is Virgo (Earth)

Mutable Winter is Pisces (Water)

Each of these signs is in an element. An Element is Fire (action), Earth (building), Water (feeling) and Air (ideas).

So as you see, we begin Spring with Aries and Fire (action) which is needed to get us going. We begin Summer with Cancer and Water (nurturing) which is needed to nourish the plants. We begin Fall with Libra and Air (ideas) in order to begin to put away that which we need for Winter beginning with Capricorn and Earth (building).

Putting this together can be as simple as learning the names of 12 of your friends and what they like and do not like and how they react to things. We all know 12 people who we understand a bit don’t we? So, learning this can make life much easier for you and learning this about yourself is the first step to spiritual enlightenment and to manifesting the life you wish to live for yourself.
